Pizza Rider's Adventures

Page owner Pizza Rider will be travelling again from late October.  Carrying a Garmin InReach Mini, you can see where Pizza Rider is by logging into the map page here.  It will not be endless laps back & forth across the Nullarbor but there will be many more crossings into the future. Winter crossings to see the whales, heading west for a change to get a tailwind, inland along the railway line, stopping to visit the many caves along the way.  Still a lot more to see out there.  

I've decided to start recording my journeys and posting them on my Fakebook page, plus Crazy guy on a bike  and some videos on  Youtube so I can access them easily I get old & decrepit and can't bicycle tour any more. Or older & decrepiter as my son likes to correct me. Updates will also be posted here from time to time.

Still seriously considering touring in the full Pizza Rider outfit.

Top of Queensland

Used the long weekend to travel up to Queensland's highest town of Ravenshoe and test some of my new camping gear. Nowhere near fit enough for the 120km 2,000m climbing day in rain but finally made it after almost 12 hours. The return on Monday still had 1,000m elevation despite the drop in altitude.

The key to success with cycle touring is to enjoy the ride. Engage your senses. Watch the sunrises & sunsets, listen to the wildlife, feel the sun & wind, smell the plants & ocean. Appreciating the good times makes it easier to get through the challenges the road will throw at you.
